CaptureProof

By the TopCasinoScout verification team

A free Chrome extension that turns a screenshot into evidence. One click captures the current page and saves a complete, verifiable evidence bundle to your Downloads folder — screenshot, SHA-256 fingerprint, URL, title and timestamp, zipped together with plain-English verification instructions.

Free · No sign-up · Zero network requests

What's in every bundle

  • capture.png — a screenshot of the visible page
  • evidence.json — the page URL, title, capture time (UTC and local), the SHA-256 fingerprint of the image, and environment details
  • README.txt — verification instructions anyone can follow with built-in OS tools

Why the hash matters

The SHA-256 hash is a digital fingerprint of the screenshot, computed at the moment of capture. If even a single pixel is altered afterwards, recomputing the hash produces a different value. Anyone you share the bundle with can verify the image is unchanged using tools already built into their operating system — certutil on Windows, shasum on macOS and Linux. No special software, no account, and no need to trust us.

Built for moments that matter

  • Documenting terms, prices, listings or bonus conditions before they change
  • Recording harassment, scam pages or misleading claims for a report
  • Preserving published content for disputes, refunds or complaints
  • Compliance and audit snapshots

CaptureProof was inspired by the evidence-preservation mindset behind TopCasinoScout, where our casino licence checker and investigations depend on knowing exactly what a webpage said at a specific moment. We built the tool we'd want anyone to have for that job — free, for any website.

Built to our own evidence standard

CaptureProof comes from a team that takes evidence seriously. Under our editorial policy, testing claims in TopCasinoScout reviews have to trace back to evidence artifacts — a bonus term before it changed, a withdrawal limit as it was displayed, a licence register entry on the day we checked it. CaptureProof packages that same discipline into a tool anyone can use: a capture that is hashed at the moment it's taken, so it can be verified later by anyone, without trusting the person who took it.

It reflects the standard behind our rating methodology and review guidelines, and the same transparency we apply to ourselves in our complaints transparency report. We built the evidence tool we'd want to be held to — and released it free, for any website.

Private by design

CaptureProof makes zero network requests. It collects nothing, transmits nothing, and has no accounts, analytics or servers. Everything — capture, hashing, bundling — happens locally in your browser. The extension only acts when you click it, can only see the tab you capture, and its only output is the file saved to your own computer. Full details in the CaptureProof privacy policy.

Honest limits

The bundle is tamper-evident, not tamper-proof: it proves the screenshot hasn't changed since capture, and it states that limit plainly inside every bundle. No screenshot tool can cryptographically prove what a live website served — be wary of any that claims otherwise.
