How We Rate Casinos: TopCasinoScout Score (TCS)
This page explains how we rate online casinos using the TopCasinoScout Score (TCS) —
our proprietary 10,000-point casino rating methodology built for one purpose: to help players compare brands using
verifiable evidence instead of vague star ratings.
TCS is designed to be easy to prove using screenshots, public data, timers, and simple math. Where a casino makes claims
about withdrawals, licensing, bonuses or security, we look for evidence that a normal player can see and check.
We keep point bands stable for consistency. We may update thresholds periodically as the market changes, but we always publish the methodology
version and last updated date so readers can compare scores fairly over time.
We do not accept payments to increase scores. No operator can influence or purchase a higher rating — ever.
Methodology version: TCS v1.3 | Last updated: 28 January 2026 | Scoring scale: 0–10,000 points
TCS at a Glance: Categories, Points, and What We Measure
This is the full scoring blueprint in one view. If you only read one table, make it this one.

|---|---|---|---|
| Payments & Withdrawals | 2,000 | Payout speed, payment coverage, KYC friction, fees and limits | Banking terms + cashier + support test |
| Licensing, Security & RG Tools | 1,500 | Licence strength and responsible gambling tools available in-account | Footer licence + verification + RG tools screenshots |
| Trustpilot & Player Reviews | 2,000 | Trustpilot rating converted by formula (when sample size is reliable) | Public Trustpilot rating + review count |
| Player Experience & Support | 1,500 | Channels, response speed, and objective accuracy checks | Chat transcript screenshots + timestamps |
| Welcome Bonus Value | 1,000 | Bonus size, wagering, rule clarity, ongoing promos | Bonus page + terms completeness checklist |
| Games & Software Quality | 1,000 | Provider strength, game count estimate, live casino coverage | Provider list + lobby evidence |
| Mobile Optimisation | 500 | Mobile performance and loading speed with standardised testing | 3 test runs, median result documented |
| Data Privacy & Account Security | 500 | 2FA availability and privacy-policy clarity | Account security page + privacy policy screenshots |
The TCS Promise: Proof-First, Player-First
- Evidence rule: If we can’t screenshot it, verify it, or time it, it doesn’t earn top-tier points.
- Worst-case rule: If support says one thing and the terms say another, we score the worse outcome.
- No “vibes” rule: We use fixed tables, checklists, and formulas. No hidden rubrics.
- Versioning: Every review is tied to a TCS version so scores remain comparable over time.
Automatic Disqualification Rules (0 / 10,000)
Some issues are too serious to “average out.” If we find any of the following, the casino receives a TCS score of 0 / 10,000 and is not recommended.
- No licence, clearly fake licensing, or licensing claims that cannot be verified in a credible way.
- Proven pattern of non-payment, confiscating legitimate winnings, or systematic refusal to process withdrawals.
- Evidence of fake games, tampered RNG, or unapproved / misrepresented software.

What the TCS Score Means (In Plain English)
The TopCasinoScout Score is a risk-and-value rating. It is designed to answer the questions players care about most: Will it pay? Is it accountable? Are the rules fair and clear? If something goes wrong, is there real support?
- Higher score: Faster withdrawals, clearer terms, stronger accountability signals, and fewer friction traps.
- Mid score: Mixed signals. Some strong features, but meaningful restrictions, slower payouts, or clarity gaps.
- Lower score: Higher friction or risk signals such as slow payouts, weak licensing, unclear terms, or repeated complaint themes.
Quick Risk Bands
- 9,000–10,000: Strong overall reliability indicators (low friction signals).
- 8,000–8,999: Solid overall score with manageable trade-offs.
- 7,000–7,999: Mixed signals. Read the banking and bonus sections carefully.
- Below 7,000: Higher caution. Expect restrictions, delays, or weak transparency.
Our Evidence Standard (How We Prove Scores)
TCS is built to be auditable. In practical terms, that means each major score area can be backed by evidence a reader could verify. We collect proof in a consistent way and apply scoring tables exactly as written.
What counts as proof
- Terms screenshots: banking terms, withdrawal limits, fee schedules, bonus rules, privacy policy.
- Cashier screenshots: available deposit/withdrawal categories, limits, and method coverage.
- Licence verification: licence details and jurisdiction evidence where possible.
- Timed tests: support response timestamps; standardised mobile checks (3 runs, median).
- Public feedback pages: Trustpilot rating and review count (when sample size is adequate).
How we handle missing or conflicting information
- No evidence: the casino scores the lowest tier for that sub-factor.
- Contradictions: we score the worse outcome (worst-case rule) and document the conflict.
- Method differences: if crypto is fast but cards are slow, we score the typical mainstream experience and note crypto separately.
Quick Calculation Workflow (What We Do for Every Casino)
- Gather proof: terms screenshots, cashier screenshots, licence claim, RG tools page, privacy policy, Trustpilot page, and a support chat transcript.
- Run timed checks: support response time using timestamps; mobile performance test using a consistent method (3 runs, median).
- Score by table: each metric is mapped to points using tier tables or checklist points.
- Apply formulas: Trustpilot formula (when 50+ reviews) and scaling rule if Trustpilot is excluded.
- Publish transparently: each review includes category scores and key evidence notes.
Practical goal: repeatable scoring that a reader can understand without needing insider knowledge.
Detailed Methodology: Exact TCS Scoring Tables (10,000 Points)
Below is the full breakdown of how we rate online casinos using TCS. Each section includes exact point bands and proof methods. If you want to understand why a casino scored high or low, this is the page that explains it.
1) Payments & Withdrawals (2,000 points)
Payments and withdrawals are the core of player trust. A casino can have a huge lobby and flashy promotions, but if withdrawals are slow, unclear, or capped aggressively, the real value collapses. This category measures speed, coverage, verification friction, and costs.
| Sub-factor | Max | Tier bands (points) | Proof method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Withdrawal Speed | 800 | ≤1hr (800) • ≤8hr (650) • ≤24hr (450) • ≤48hr (250) • ≤120hr (100) • >120hr (0) | Banking terms + cashier wording + support confirmation where needed |
| Payment Categories | 500 | 6 (500) • 4–5 (350) • 3 (200) • 2 (100) • ≤1 (0) | Cashier categories count (cards, bank, e-wallets, PayPal, crypto, local) |
| KYC Speed | 400 | ≤6hr (400) • ≤24hr (300) • ≤72hr (150) • >72hr (0) | Terms claim + support chat confirmation + visible verification guidance |
| Fees & Limits | 300 | Checklist points (see below), capped at 300 | Limits table + fee disclosure screenshots |
Fees & Limits Checklist (0–300 points)
Instead of subjective judgement, we score fees and limits using a fixed checklist. Each verified item earns points.
- Fee clarity: withdrawal fees clearly stated as “none” or disclosed in a visible schedule (+100)
- Limits clarity: minimum and maximum withdrawal limits visible in terms or cashier (+100)
- No hidden deductions: no extra “processing” or “handling” fee language found (+100)
Note: If terms contain contradictory fee language, we apply the worst-case rule and relevant checklist items do not score.
Important clarification: crypto vs card/bank speed
If crypto payouts are instant but card/bank payouts take days, we do not automatically score the fastest method. We score the typical mainstream experience and document method differences clearly in the review.
2) Licensing, Security & Responsible Gambling Tools (1,500 points)
Licensing determines accountability. Responsible gambling tools determine whether players can set limits when needed.
We score what can be verified and what is available inside the account.
Note: Technical privacy and account security controls (such as 2FA and privacy policy clarity) are scored separately in Category 8.
Important: Licensing tiers are a simplified baseline. Operator execution matters more than jurisdiction labels. A strong licence does not automatically mean fast payouts, fair limits, or good support.
| Sub-factor | Max | Tier bands / checklist | Proof method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Licence Tier | 1,000 | Tier 1 (1,000) • Tier 2 (800) • Tier 3 (500) • Unclear/unverified (0) | Footer licence claim + verifiable regulator evidence where possible |
| RG Tools | 500 | Checklist points (see below), capped at 500 | Account RG tools page screenshots |
RG Tools Checklist (0–500 points)
- Deposit limits available (+100)
- Loss limits available (+100)
- Session/time limits available (+75)
- Timeout/cool-off available (+75)
- Self-exclusion available (+100)
- Relevant help links provided (+50)
We also encourage players to use recognised resources such as BeGambleAware.
3) Trustpilot & Player Reviews (2,000 points)
Player reviews can reveal patterns that don’t show up on marketing pages: stalled withdrawals, repeated KYC disputes, and support refusal. We include Trustpilot as an external signal using a simple conversion formula.
Trustpilot formula (max 2,000):
Trustpilot Points = (Trustpilot Rating / 5.0) × 2,000
Example: 4.2 / 5.0 → (4.2 ÷ 5) × 2,000 = 1,680 points
Minimum review count rule
Trustpilot is only included when there is enough volume for the rating to be meaningful. If a casino has fewer than 50 Trustpilot reviews, we treat this category as N/A.
| Trustpilot review count | Trustpilot category | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| < 50 reviews | N/A | We exclude Trustpilot and scale the other categories to a 10,000-point total. |
| 50+ reviews | Included | We apply the Trustpilot formula and add those points to the score. |
Scaling rule when Trustpilot is N/A:
Final TCS = (Score Without Trustpilot / 8,000) × 10,000
This keeps the overall score comparable without rewarding or punishing a casino for limited external review data.
Important note: Trustpilot is not treated as “truth.” If we see repeated complaint themes (for example, withdrawal delays or KYC disputes), we use that as a trigger to double-check the relevant evidence areas (payments, terms, and support accuracy).
4) Player Experience & Support (1,500 points)
Support is where casino policies become real. We score support using what a player can observe: channels available, response time, and an objective accuracy test based on three standard questions.
| Sub-factor | Max | Tier bands / checklist | Proof method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Support channels | 500 | Chat+Email+Phone (500) • Chat+Email (350) • Email only (100) • None (0) | Visible support options on site |
| Chat response speed | 600 | <30s (600) • ≤60s (450) • ≤180s (300) • ≤300s (150) • >300s (0) | Timestamped chat test (screenshots) |
| Support accuracy test | 400 | Checklist points (see below), capped at 400 | Chat transcript screenshots |
Support Accuracy Checklist (0–400 points)
We ask three standard questions. Points are earned only if the answer is clear and usable.
- Q1: “What are your withdrawal limits?”
Numeric limits + where to find them (+150) • Partial numbers, no source (+75) • No numbers / dodges (+0) - Q2: “Do you charge withdrawal fees?”
Clear yes/no + fee schedule reference (+150) • Vague answer (+75) • Contradiction / wrong (+0) - Q3: “When do you require verification (KYC)?”
Explains triggers + documents (+100) • Partial (+50) • Unclear (+0)
If a bot responds first, we record time to a human agent where possible. If answers conflict with published terms, we apply the worst-case rule.
5) Welcome Bonus Value (1,000 points)
Bonuses are marketing unless the rules are fair and clear. TCS scores bonuses based on size, wagering, transparency, and whether there’s ongoing value beyond the first deposit.
| Sub-factor | Max | Tier bands / checklist | Proof method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bonus size (% + cap) | 250 | 200%+ / 1,000+ (250) • 100% / 500 (200) • <100% (100) • None (0) | Bonus page headline + terms excerpt |
| Wagering | 250 | ≤20x (250) • 21–35x (150) • 36–50x (50) • >50x/unclear (0) | T&Cs screenshot |
| Transparency | 250 | Checklist points (see below), capped at 250 | T&Cs visibility and completeness |
| Ongoing promos/VIP | 250 | Strong (250) • Average (150) • Weak (50) • None (0) | Promotions page / VIP page evidence |
Bonus Transparency Checklist (0–250 points)
Each item is worth 50 points. Missing item = 0 for that item.
- Wagering stated clearly (+50)
- Eligible games / contributions stated (+50)
- Max bet rule stated (+50)
- Max cashout / profit cap rule stated (+50)
- Bonus expiry stated (+50)
If key bonus rules are hidden, contradictory, or not easily findable, transparency points drop quickly by design.
6) Games & Software Quality (1,000 points)
This category rewards casinos with strong provider ecosystems, healthy game variety, and a properly stocked live casino. We score what can be verified via provider lists and lobby evidence.
Game count note: Game totals are treated as an estimate based on visible lobby counters or published totals.
If no reliable count is visible (or the number appears inflated without evidence), this sub-factor scores lower.
Future-proofing: thresholds may be reviewed periodically as the market shifts. Any changes are versioned and dated.
| Sub-factor | Max | Tier bands | Proof method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top providers | 400 | 10+ (400) • 7–9 (300) • 4–6 (200) • <4 (0) | Provider list / game studio filter evidence |
| Game count | 300 | 5,000+ (300) • 3,000+ (200) • 1,000+ (100) • <1,000 (0) | Lobby counter / published library size |
| Live casino strength | 300 | Full live coverage (300) • Good tables (200) • Minimal (100) • None (0) | Live lobby screenshots |
7) Mobile Optimisation (500 points)
Mobile performance affects everything: login friction, cashier reliability, and general usability. To keep this measurable, we use standardised thresholds and document the test output.
| Sub-factor | Max | Tier bands | Proof method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile performance score | 250 | 90–100 (250) • 70–89 (150) • 50–69 (50) • <50 (0) | Standardised mobile test output (3 runs, median) |
| Loading speed (LCP or equivalent) | 250 | ≤2.5s (250) • 2.6–4.0s (150) • 4.1–6.0s (50) • >6.0s (0) | Same test output showing the loading metric |
Standardisation rule: We test the same page type where possible (home or lobby), run the check three times,
and use the median result. This reduces one-off spikes and makes mobile scores more repeatable.
Future-proofing: mobile thresholds may be reviewed periodically against typical market performance. Any updates are published as a new TCS version.
8) Data Privacy & Account Security (500 points)
Players trust casinos with sensitive personal and payment information. We score security and privacy based on what is provable: whether 2FA exists and whether the privacy policy is clear about retention, sharing, contact, and consent.
| Sub-factor | Max | Tier bands / checklist | Proof method |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2FA availability | 300 | 2FA required (300) • 2FA optional (150) • No 2FA (0) | Account security settings screenshot |
| Privacy policy clarity | 200 | Checklist points (see below), capped at 200 | Privacy policy screenshots |
Privacy Policy Clarity Checklist (0–200 points)
Each item is worth 50 points.
- Data retention described (+50)
- Third-party sharing described (+50)
- Contact method for data requests (+50)
- Cookie/consent mechanism present (+50)
Worked Example: Building a TCS Score
Here is a simple example showing how the category totals add up. The goal is not to “sell” a score. The goal is to make the calculation obvious.
| Category | Example score | Max |
|---|---|---|
| Payments & Withdrawals | 1,750 | 2,000 |
| Licensing, Security & RG Tools | 1,050 | 1,500 |
| Trustpilot & Player Reviews | 1,600 | 2,000 |
| Player Experience & Support | 1,150 | 1,500 |
| Welcome Bonus Value | 700 | 1,000 |
| Games & Software Quality | 900 | 1,000 |
| Mobile Optimisation | 350 | 500 |
| Data Privacy & Account Security | 300 | 500 |
| Total TCS | 7,800 | 10,000 |
Why this matters: Two casinos can look similar on the surface but score differently when you measure withdrawal reality, licence strength, tool availability, and whether support can answer basic policy questions.
TCS Bands & Star Ratings
For consistency across the site, every casino’s 0–10,000 TCS score is mapped to a simple 1–5★ rating.
- 8,000–10,000 TCS → 5★ (Outstanding)
- 6,000–7,999 TCS → 4★ (Very Good)
- 4,000–5,999 TCS → 3★ (Good)
- 2,000–3,999 TCS → 2★ (Caution)
- 0–1,999 TCS → 1★ (Avoid / High Risk)

Why is the TopCasinoScout scoring system different?
Many casino sites use subjective opinions or paid rankings. TopCasinoScout applies a fixed, numeric 10,000-point model with transparent rules. Each casino is measured using the same criteria — payouts, bonus terms, licensing strength, games, support, and independent player reviews — ensuring unbiased and consistent comparisons.
How do you ensure ratings remain fair and independent?
We do not sell or accept payments for higher scores. Our team directly tests support responsiveness, verifies licensing with regulators, calculates real bonus value, and reviews external player feedback. Our full methodology is openly published in our Casino Review Guidelines.
What happens if a casino shows serious issues or red flags?
Fake licensing, non-payment patterns, tampered games, or systematic unfair behaviour results in a score of 0 / 10,000 and placement on our warning lists. Protecting players is our top priority.
Do new casinos get an unfair disadvantage?
No. If a casino has fewer than 50 verified reviews, Trustpilot scoring is marked as limited. The internal 7,500-point score is temporarily scaled to 10,000 so genuine new casinos are not penalised simply for being new to the market.
How often are casino scores updated?
Scores are updated whenever a casino changes withdrawal speed, bonus terms, game catalogue, support quality, licence status, or when new player complaints appear. Major issues trigger immediate review.
How do you verify whether a casino’s licence is genuine?
We cross-check licence details directly with the regulator’s official database, confirming the operator name, licence number, approved activities, and linked domains. Any inconsistencies or unverifiable claims lead to significant score reductions — and clear cases of misrepresentation trigger automatic blacklisting.
What makes a bonus high or low value in your scoring model?
We analyse match percentage, bonus cap, wagering requirements, game contributions, max bet limits, and transparency. High-value bonuses have low wagering, fair terms, and no hidden restrictions. Low-value offers often include high wagering, confusing conditions, or max-cashout traps.
Why do some casinos with large game libraries still score moderately?
A big game count does not automatically mean quality. We look at the presence of top studios, fairness audits, RNG certifications, and the strength of the live casino section. Casinos can offer thousands of games but still lack reputable providers or trusted software, resulting in moderate scores.
What types of player complaints affect scores the most?
We monitor patterns, not isolated complaints. Repeated issues such as delayed withdrawals, unfair term changes, unexplained account closures, or slow KYC directly impact Payments, Licensing, and Support scores. Proven non-payment behaviour triggers immediate blacklisting.
How does TopCasinoScout compare to other review sites?
Many review sites rely on opinions or commercial incentives. We use a transparent 10,000-point checklist that evaluates real metrics: bonus value, wagering fairness, payout timing, licensing verification, game quality, support testing, and independent Trustpilot reviews. Our scores are numerical, repeatable, and impossible to influence with payments.
